Harrison - How does the music video for Titanium conform to or challenge the EDM genre?

Image
How does the music video for Titanium conform to or challenge the EDM genre? Titanium, by David Guetta, is a music video that typically represents a supernatural boy who wakes up at the start of the video in a high school scene that seems to be destructed, which later on in the video is shown to be the boy that had caused this destruction. The video is mainly narrative and shows a very chronological type of music video. In this essay I will be discussing the similarities and differences of the music video to the EDM genre itself. One challenge that the music video has to the EDM genre is that the storyline is about a main character who has caused a destruction and has telekinetic powers shown in the video, whereas the typical EDM genre theme is mainly about love and relationships as shown in ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna along with Calvin Harris which is about a misleading relationship that includes a relationship that involves drugs and does not work out, which challenges Tita...

Harrison - Emeli Sande - Heaven Exam Question

Harrison Emeli Sande - Heaven Exam Question In the music video, representations are shown and seen throughout and are a big part to the way the music video is presented. One example of this is ethnicities and the presentation of different people with different ethnicities which shows the multicultural aspect in the video with a number of both black and white people that are shown in the video. Another example of the kind of representations could be class and status which is presented with the filming in Bethnal Green which is known to be quite a run down place and consists of mainly council houses which is focused in the video in that lots of the pictures are of these run down parts emphasising the poor area and the level of homelessness which is also shown by some of the photo's shown in the video, for example the man sleeping in the doorway clearly shows how run down the area is and the level of homelessness that it brings. The majority of camera shots are focused on ho...

MUSIC VIDEO ANALYSIS. Song title and artist:    Stormzy – Big for your Boots Shot Shot type and camera movement: Medium/close up – Shows Stormzy from his waist upwards showing his setting and camera on his eye line as if he is talking to someone where the camera is. Analysis This shows Stormzy saying ‘how dare you twist the truth’ showing how he could be aggrieved with someone in this time in the song. It also shows in the background his ‘crew’ of what could be on his side in the music video. They are all wearing white to show their friendship and how they are backing him up in the scene. This could link to ‘Boyz in the Hood’ in the gang scene where they are in a group and they are always there for each other to show strength and power. Music/lyrics “How dare you twist up the truth” Edit/Transitions Quick transition at end of shot showing the meaning and aggression he has in it. ...
